< Back Ronald Siarnicki Board Member Ron began his career as a firefighter with the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department in 1978 and, over 24 years, progressed through the ranks to Chief of the Department. In this position, he served as the Chief Executive Officer responsible for the fire, rescue and emergency medical services of Prince George’s County, Maryland. While with the Department, he also served on the Joint Fire and Police Pension Board for four years. Prior to joining the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department, he served as a volunteer firefighter with the Monessen Volunteer Fire Department, Hose House #2 , in western Pennsylvania. In doing so, he followed a family tradition-both his father and grandfather were volunteer firefighters. In July 2001, he retired from the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department to take the position of Executive Director of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF). In recognition of his outstanding leadership with the NFFF and the fire service as a whole, he has been recognized by various groups and organizations to include: The Fire Engineering Lifetime Achievement Award, Alan Brunacini Fire Services Executive Safety Award from the International Association of Fire Chiefs, Metropolitan Fire Chiefs’ Presidents Award of Distinction, University of Maryland, University College Distinguished Alumnus, American Burn Association’s Moncrief Award and the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Silver Medal of Valor. A strong proponent of higher education, he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) and served as a UMUC faculty member for the Fire Science Curriculum.

DC Firefighters Memorial Helmet Project The DC Fire & EMS Department has lost 102 firefighters in the line of duty since 1856. The DC Firefighters Memorial Helmet Project memorializes every DC firefighter who died in the line of duty with the installation of memorial helmets and plaques on streetlights at the locations of their ultimate sacrifice. Last Run of the Horses 100th Anniversary BACKGROUND: One hundred years ago, on June 15, 1925, the DC Fire Department held a ceremonial Last Run of the Horses. The purpose of the event was to commemorate the service of the great fire horses, who were no longer needed due to the advent of motorized fire apparatus. EVENT DETAILS: On June 15, 2025 at 1 p.m. , the DC Fire and EMS Department , in partnership with the Friendship Fire Association and the DC Fire & EMS Foundation, re-enacted the historic ceremonial Last Run of the Horses, using a cosmetically preserved 1905 American LaFrance horse-drawn steam fire engine. ROUTE: The horse-drawn engine ran from the William H. Rumsey Aquatic Center at 635 North Carolina Ave, SE, to Lincoln Park, where we gathered for a small community reception immediately following the procession. WHAT WAS SPECIAL: Hundreds of neighbors, active and retired firefighters and their families, and other supporters lined the streets and gathered at Lincoln Park to observe the procession. Sunday’s event, organized by the DC Fire and EMS Foundation along with the Friendship Fire Association , marked the 100th anniversary of the event by holding a reenactment. “They’re (department members) very proud of the long history of the agency,” said Amy Mauro, executive director of DC Fire and EMS Foundation. “How far it’s come over the last 150 years of being in existence ...Today is a really joyful day on Capitol Hill,” Mauro said. “There were a lot of stories going back and forth, you know, from the retired guys, and talking about how D.C. has changed, how it doesn’t look the same, and just reminiscing about their time on the job,” Mazzara said. “So it’s a lot of fun.” Thank you to our sponsors!

Clark Board Member J.R. has extensive experience representing issuers and borrowers, and serving as underwriters’ counsel on tax-exempt and taxable borrowings that include use of revenue bonds, tax credits, tax increment financing opportunity zones and other economic development tools. Before joining the firm, J.R. served in the executive office of the mayor of Washington, D.C. as director for council affairs in the Office of Intergovernmental Relations, where he advised the mayor on all legislation before the District of Columbia Council. In this capacity, he oversaw the implementation of the mayor’s legislative agenda. Before working with the mayor, J.R. served as deputy general counsel in the District of Columbia’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer. There, he worked with the legislative branch on the District of Columbia’s budget and finances. J.R. is a DC native, resident of Ward 4, and member of the Leadership Greater Washington Class of 2012. He has served on, and as chairman of, several regional boards and associations.

< Back Michael Goldstein Board Member Prior to joining Tyton, Mike led the higher education law practice at global firm Cooley LLP and predecessor Dow Lohnes, and previously served as Associate Vice Chancellor and Associate Professor of Urban Sciences at the University of Illinois-Chicago and Assistant City Administrator and Director of University Relations for the City of New York. He serves as chair of the Board of Trustees of Vermont College of Fine Arts and is a Board member and past chair of Fielding Graduate University, which awarded him an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters for his contributions to experiential learning. He is a Director of the University of the District of Columbia Foundation and of The Washington Center, Vice Chair of the Board of The Washington Ballet and was formerly a Director of the American Association for Higher Education and a Trustee of Mount Vernon College, as well as a long-time member of the Friendship Fire Association. He has a BA in Government from Cornell University, a law degree from New York University and was a Loeb Fellow in Advanced Urban and Environmental Studies at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Mike is a Ward 3 resident.

< Back Andrew T. “Chip” Richardson, III, Esq. Board Chair Chip previously held senior leadership roles with the DC Government. He served initially as Deputy, and then as General Counsel led a very proactive Office of the General Counsel for the Executive Office of the Mayor during the Honorable Adrian Fenty’s administration. He then served as Interim Director of the District of Columbia Office of Risk Management. Chip served a three-year term as a member of the Board of Directors of The Not For Profit Hospital Corporation, formerly known as Greater Southeast Community Hospital and United Medical Center. He previously served on the Board of Directors for Stargate, a nonprofit foundation in Richmond, Virginia that supported arts programming in public schools. He has been recognized by the District of Columbia Bar for his contributions to the practice of estates, trusts and probate law in the District, and he received a Meritorious Public Service Award from the Government of the District of Columbia for service to its residents. Chip lives in Ward 4 with his family.

< Back Sean Egan Board Member Sean established contacts throughout the District government and the region to the benefit of the Department, including service as Chairman of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Health and Safety Subcommittee. As an executive leader and trusted advisor, he has had a front seat and management role in some of the most impactful events of the 21st century, including historic Presidential inaugurations, major sporting events, national crises, and large-scale infrastructure transformations. Following his retirement from the Department, Sean served as the Response and Recovery Coordination Specialist of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Office of Emergency Preparedness. He is currently working as a risk management and emergency preparedness consultant. ​ ​

< Back Janene Jackson Board Member Having worked in all branches of the government of the District of Columbia, Janene brings a 360-degree approach to assisting clients with their government relations and lobbying needs, business development interests, and legal representations in administrative proceedings. Janene has served as deputy chief of staff and director of the Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs where she was responsible for the regional, federal and local relationships for the mayor, as well as lobbying the Council of the District of Columbia and Congress; senior vice president for government affairs at the DC Chamber of Commerce; committee counsel to Committee on Public Safety and the Judiciary Chairman Phil Mendelson; executive director of the State Complaint Office of the District of Columbia Public Schools; assistant corporation counsel in the Office of Corporation Counsel; and clerk for the Honorable Donald L.
